My name is Simon Robin Stephens and I’m a budding artist based in South London. I love the tranquility of nature, the busyness of the city and the coming together of the two. My home town of Sutton places me in great standing to experience both on a regular basis and draw on them both for inspiration as I draw and paint.
I’m very proud to announce that my watercolour paintings are for sale! I put myself, my love and my passion into every brush stroke so, when you pick up one of my artworks, be it a postcard, a print or even an original, you’ll be walking a way with a little piece of my soul – yours to keep for as long as my piece hangs on your wall, brings you joy or makes you think. I hope it comes to mean as much to you as it does to me!
I’m deeply stimulated and impressed upon by my surroundings. The natural world, as well as the one we’ve constructed upon it, are huge sources of inspiration for my expression on the page. I love to see drama on the page and you’ll see that come through in my watercolour paintings for sale, in my bold colours and the contrasts between light and dark that you’ll see in my work.
To see my watercolour paintings for sale in my catalogue, simply head to the Gallery and click on the category that most interests you. No doubt, you’ll find one there that speaks to you.
I’ve been blessed to find myself straddling the busy city and the tranquil natural world and this has allowed me to find lively action in the city, as well as relaxed serenity in nature, all within a short distance. I’ve been able to build up quite a library of different vistas, landscapes and cityscapes.
As a National Trust member, the natural world has always held a place in my heart. The peace, the tranquillity and the untouched earth are so calming and soothing.
There’s something about the sea that calls to all of us. Open, aimless and ever-changing, it symbolises freedom, as well as fear, and has inspired many of my favourite pieces.
The modern world has a charm of its own. It’s always inspiring to see what human hands have built and just to capture that on paper feels like a tribute paid to their hard work.
